David Chin is the founder and Artistic Director of Bachfest Malaysia and the conductor of the acclaimed Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra.
In 2022, David Chin was named a Senior Fellow of the prestigious Bach-Archiv Leipzig, becoming only the fourth person to receive this honor since the institution’s founding in 1950.
David Chin is an experienced conductor who has performed throughout Europe, America and Asia, performing a large number of musical works from musicians to modern times, including Bach’s oratorios, masses and passions.
In 2024, David Chin lead Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis tour in East Malaysia and perform Bach’s works in Germany, including at the Leipzig Bach Festival.
A dedicated educator and scholar, David Chin has taught at various universities, mentoring students who have advanced to prestigious institutions in the U.S.
David Chin translated and published Bach: A Pictorial Biography and produced the bilingual documentary Tracing Bach.
As a pianist and harpsichordist, David Chin has performed in international concerts and collaborated with world-class musicians.
David Chin contributions to music and advocacy for Bach’s legacy have solidified his standing as a distinguished figure in the global classical music scene.
